YEAR FOUR

Year Four is a special year for students at Infant Jesus School. We will be receiving the Sacrament of the Eucharist which is our focus throughout the year. At the moment we are learning more about the Sacrament of Baptism and how it brings us closer to God. We are also reflecting on our Lenten Promises and how we can do good for others.

In Mathematics we are building on our knowledge of place value and will be using all four operations this term. We’re especially looking forward to understanding division and converting units of time.

During English we have been focusing on comprehension strategies, we’ve already looked at predicting, questioning and are currently learning how to visualise! We are using our writing time to create narratives based in Australia before the explorers arrived…you won’t believe how many new words we are learning for these narratives!

In Year Four our Integrated Studies have had us researching Indigenous Australians. We are learning a lot about Aboriginal People and Torres Strait Islanders and their cultures. Later in the term we will be sharing all of our new-found knowledge with the school community in our Year Four assembly and we cannot wait!

Throughout the year we will be doing many fun and creative activities. Last week we played Chinese games during Sport to celebrate the Chinese New Year. We found it a bit confusing at the beginning, but once we understood the rules it was so much fun!
