LENTEN CALENDAR 2018

Lent is a time when we take some time to stop and reflect as we prepare for Easter. During the forty days we focus on keeping Christ at the heart of all our words and actions. We consider how we can become better people by trying to do things well and even giving up doing things that are poor choices so that we become people of peace, hope and love.

The 2018 Lenten Calendar has ideas for each of the days of Lent. Families can use this calendar to focus on preparing for Easter.

For the second week of Lent

Friday 23 February                              Pray for those who don’t know yet that Jesus loves them

Saturday 24 February                          Earn a coin for Project Compassion. Think of a job that you can do for this.

Second Sunday of Lent

Sunday 25 February                             Gospel of Mark 9: 2-10: The Transfiguration

Monday 26 February                             Help Mum and Dad with the housework

Tuesday 27 February                            Reflect on what makes your family special

Wednesday 28 February                       Light a candle today and pray with Jesus

Thursday 1 March                                 Pray for all the people in hospitals

Friday 2 March                                      Smile at everyone you meet today

Janaki is a young entrepreneur from Nepal, who has turned her life around. Growing up in a world of poverty and disadvantage, coupled with a forced marriage at the age of twelve, she was in a very vulnerable position. Even more so when her husband died just two years into their marriage. With the help of a Caritas Australia supported program she is now running her own successful sewing business and has become an inspirational community leader.
