Year Three

On Monday and Tuesday the Year Threes were lucky enough to receive visits from the Constitution Centre as part of our Civics and Citizenship program.  We participated in two different puppet shows that helped us learn about our community.

The first puppet show was called Prejudice in Parksville and it was run by a nice lady called Jackie. We read a story and acted it out with our puppets. The main character was a clown called Laugh-a-Lot. We learnt about prejudice and how we must be kind to everyone.

The second show was on Tuesday and was called Rules in Parksville. Carolyn came to read the story with us. There was a problem in Parksville and lots of people were demanding different things. Laugh-a-Lot decided that they should form a government to make the decisions so the puppets all had a vote using real ballot paper and ballot box! We learnt that a constitution is a set of rules.
