SCHOOL CYCLIC REVIEW FEEDBACK

This term Infant Jesus School undertook both a School Cyclic Review and a Principal Review Process. The School Cyclic Review focuses on the effectiveness of a school’s engagement with self-review and its impact on school improvement and the future directions for the improvement of student outcomes that the school has identified.

This year Infant Jesus School trialled the pairing of the School Cyclic Review with the Principal Review process. In collating the data for this process, we were encouraged at the changes and growth that have taken place in our school during the past two years. The shared vision of ‘A LEADing Learning School’ has provided the stimulus / driver to unite the community in a shared vision to enable our school to  focus on improvement in school performance.

At the conclusion of the process the Director from CEWA (Catholic Education Western Australia) and the Cyclic Review Panel commented on how all the data from various stakeholders (Parish Priest, School Board, P&F, Leadership Team, Staff and Students) was very affirming and positive. The Director commented specifically on the direction of the school and the improvements that have been implemented during the past two years.

Our vision and aspiration, to be ‘A LEADing Learning School’ has continued to inspire us in the ability to make considerable changes in the way we work at Infant Jesus School. This has enabled us all to share in the direction which has impacted many initiatives to improve school performance.

We have many things that we need to be proud of here at Infant Jesus School – as a community we need to continue to #ExpectGreatThings of all in our community.

LEARNING JOURNEYS – PARENT TEACHER ONLINE

For these interviews we are continuing to use the internet-based booking system called Parent Teacher On-Line (PTO). It will save time for parents, staff and students!

Using this system, you will be able to book the interview times that suit you best from any internet-connected computer. A computer will be available in the library during school hours if you do not have internet access at home or elsewhere.

Please access the system as follows:

  • Click on the following link – http://www.infantjesus.wa.edu.au/pto
  • Click “Obtain PIN/Password” and enter your email address.  Your PIN will be emailed to you. This will email you your password to access PTO. Please note that the email address is the email address that you have provided as contact details with the school.

Full instructions are provided to you after log in. Please note the following points:

  • When you log on, the system displays only your own child/children. Bookings are made for individual parents/guardians, not for couples. Couples can however log on to the system simultaneously to coordinate bookings. If two parents/guardians wish to attend a single interview time slot, one parent/guardian should make the booking then both can attend.
  • You will only see time slots that are available at the time you are using the system. As time slots are booked for teachers, those time slots are no longer displayed as available. PTO prevents double-booking of teachers or parents/guardians.
  • When you have made all the bookings you require, you can download or email a report of your bookings in time order for printing.
  • Other parents may be making bookings at the same time that you are using the system. It is possible, though unlikely, that a time slot is displayed to you as available, but is then booked by another parent shortly afterwards. If you then attempt to book this time slot it will not be available and a message will be displayed to indicate this.
  • If you encounter any problems using PTO please contact the school office or email Frank Colangelo, directly on frank.colangelo@cewa.edu.au.

 FACTION ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

The Infant Jesus School Athletics Carnival will take place on Friday 12 October (Week 1, Term 4) at the Inglewood Little Athletic Centre (Dianella Regional Open Space).

The day will commence at approximately 9:15am and should conclude around 2:30pm.  All children are to arrive at school for the usual start time. Buses will leave school at 8:50am at the latest.  Similar to last year, the carnival will take on a tabloid format involving a rotation of team games as well as relays and individual races.

Children are asked to wear a plain shirt in their faction colour. If the t-shirt has a motif on the front or back, children can wear the t-shirt turned inside out.  We also encourage them to wear sunscreen because they will be out in the sun for the majority of the day. All items need to be clearly marked with their name. Mascots, hair ribbons and banners are allowed to encourage team spirit; however, No hair dye or face paint will be allowed (Coloured zinc is permitted).

Please be aware that it is anticipated that the children will only be sitting in their bays during lunch time and during their designated rest time. On the day, they will need to bring their recess, lunch, hat and a bottle of water.  As children will be constantly moving to different stations, we invite all parents to follow along and support their children throughout the day. Spectators are allowed to sit in the marked viewing area only. This is to ensure the safety of all competitors. Parents are asked to refrain from standing too close to the finish line or entering staff/student areas at all times.

If parents wish to take their child home at the completion of the carnival, a letter needs to be given to class teacher. Please note, children will not be permitted to go home with other parents or friends.  Parents are only permitted to take their child from the Athletics Carnival. Please do not ask on the day as the request will be denied as we have a duty of care and a responsibility of keeping accurate records with regards to children’s attendance.

We know that the children are looking forward to a fun day where they can showcase their athletic skills!

FAMILY AND MEDICAL DETAILS

All Family and Medical details will be gradually updated throughout this term and into Term 4. We have noticed that several people have had incorrect details on file when calling home for emergencies, or attempting to contact parents.

The updating process will be in alphabetical order and commences this week. Please ensure both Family and Medical details have been returned as soon as possible.

SUMMER UNIFORM

Next term, all students move back into their summer uniform.  Children are permitted to wear their winter uniform up until the end of Week Two, if necessary.

All students are required to be in the full Infant Jesus School uniform by Week 3 of Term 4. Parents are reminded to have all items of school clothing clearly labelled as we constantly have items of school uniform in our lost property.
